Depop

Listing, repricing, orders and messages on Depop.

Depop works through the browser extension for listing, and through Depop's own web endpoints for orders, messages and deletes.

Connecting

  1. Log in to depop.com in the same browser.
  2. Press Connect on Connections.

Requirements before you can list

Depop blocks listing creation until account-level shipping settings exist:

  • Country and city
  • Address
  • Shipping provider
  • Parcel size

Set these once at shipping profiles.

Parcel sizes are weight brackets

Depop's parcel options look like tiers with friendly names, but what they actually encode is a weight bracket. Pick by the weight of the packed parcel, not by how big the box looks. Choosing on size alone is how you end up underpaying postage and covering the difference.

Listing

FieldRule
TitleAuto-generated by Depop — anything you write is ignored
Description1,000 characters max
CategoryRequired
SubcategoryRequired
BrandRequired — Depop's own "No Brand" entry is valid
ConditionNot required
Shipping profileRequired, account-level

Depop generates its own titles from the item's attributes — brand, category, size, colour. This is Depop's design, not a limitation. It means your carefully written title is not what buyers see there, so put the selling detail in the description and make sure brand, size and colour are accurate.

Subcategory is required, which is unusual — most marketplaces treat it as optional refinement. A Depop listing without one is rejected.

Size is category-dependent. Depop expanded well past clothing into art, homeware, books and electronics, and those categories have no size control at all. Apparel still needs one.

Delisting: permanent

Depop deletes. It does not deactivate or hide. A deleted Depop listing is gone, and there is nothing on Depop's side to undo it.

This is the one marketplace where a bulk delist deserves a second look before you confirm. Mercari deactivates, Vinted hides, eBay ends — all reversible. Depop does not.

Sales and fees

Orders sync from Depop's seller receipts, with fees.

Offers

Depop offers appear in Offers. Depop's web offer flow uses your browser session rather than an API token, which is why offers need the extension connected and working.

Offer to Likers

Depop's own tool for reaching interested buyers: a direct discounted offer to each shopper who liked an item. Reskale sends it from buyer discounts.

Messages

Depop conversations sync into Messages.

One caveat worth knowing: Depop exposes messages two different ways, and they do not agree in detail. Reskale prefers the richer source. If you have both a Depop tab open on the messages page and a sync running, occasional inconsistency between what you see on each is expected — the next sync resolves it.

Known quirks

  • The generated title is not editable. If a listing's title reads wrong on Depop, fix the attributes it is generated from.
  • Depop redesigns break form filling. Keep the extension auto-updating.
  • Brand list matching. Depop matches brands against its own list. A brand it does not recognise has to use the "No Brand" entry, with the real brand in the description.

Troubleshooting

  • Every listing fails on shipping — set the account shipping profile.
  • Every listing fails on subcategory — Depop requires one; pick it in the Depop panel.
  • Offers not loading — reconnect Depop; its offer flow depends on the session.

More: troubleshooting.
