Reskale and reseller vocabulary, defined.
Reskale terms
Item — one physical thing you own. Photos, description, condition, cost, SKU. The record everything else hangs off.
Listing — an item offered for sale on one marketplace. One item can have several. More.
Job — one queued crosspost or delist. Succeeds or fails on its own. More.
Crosspost — taking one item and listing it on an additional marketplace. Also called crosslisting.
Delist — removing a listing from a marketplace. What that means varies: eBay ends, Mercari deactivates, Vinted hides, Depop deletes permanently. More.
Auto-Delist — the screen that finds items sold on one marketplace and still live on another.
Connection — stored authorisation for a marketplace. Either OAuth or a browser session. More.
Import — pulling your existing live listings into Reskale.
Sync — pulling current sales, offers, messages and shipments.
Link existing listing — telling Reskale about a listing you posted by hand. Links only; never creates or edits.
Mark as sold — recording a sale that happened outside a connected marketplace, which also makes the item's other listings eligible for the auto-delist sweep.
Mark as not listed — correcting a listing that Reskale thinks is live and is not.
Shipping profile — account-level shipping settings. Required by Mercari and Depop before any listing can be created.
Marketplace terms
Aspects / item specifics — eBay's per-category attributes: Department, Type, Style. Which are required depends on the leaf category. More.
Leaf category — the deepest, most specific category in a marketplace's tree. Most requirements derive from it.
Best Offer — eBay's buyer offer mechanism.
Offer to likers — a discounted offer sent to the buyers who liked a listing, on Mercari and Depop. Reskale sends it from Buyer Discounts.
Offer to favouriters — Vinted's discount to people who saved your item.
Business policies — eBay's saved payment, shipping and returns terms, referenced by listings rather than restated on each.
Consolidated shipping — Mercari combining several items into one shipment, keyed by order rather than item.
DataDome — the bot-detection service Vinted uses. Can present a challenge that must be cleared in a normal browser tab.
Reseller terms
Sell-through rate (STR) — the proportion of listings for an item that actually sold. The most useful single sourcing number. More.
Comps — comparable sold listings, used to price. Sold, not asking.
Cost of goods (COGS) — what you paid for inventory. Turns net proceeds into real profit.
Net — sale price minus marketplace fees. What reached you.
Profit — net minus cost of goods. Excludes your time, mileage and supplies — those live in Bookkeeping.
SKU — your own identifier for an item. What lets you find it in a garage.
Sourcing — buying inventory.
Aging inventory — stock that has not sold in a long time. Capital sitting in a bin.
Double sale — the same physical item sold on two marketplaces because the duplicate listing was not taken down. What auto-delist exists to prevent.
Grading — condition rating, most formally on Discogs, where media and sleeve are graded separately on the Goldmine scale. More.
Release — on Discogs, a specific pressing of a record. A 1973 UK original and a 1978 reissue are different releases with different values.
Technical terms
OAuth — the standard where a marketplace issues an application a token after you approve it, without sharing your password. Used by eBay and Discogs.
Session — the login state your browser holds after signing in. Used for Mercari, Depop and Vinted, which have no API.
Extension — the browser add-on that lets Reskale act on marketplaces with no API. More.
Rate limiting — a marketplace throttling requests that arrive too fast. Why Reskale paces deliberately.
Row-level security — database enforcement that a user can only read their own rows, independent of application code. More.
